While the rest of the team scrambled around the office attending to business, Vicki attended to business at ADA headquarters in Chicago. ADA Executive Director, Dr. Ray Cohlmia, had called in the state executives to discuss a wide range of developments ranging from tech advancements to diversity updates to potential new membership levels. It was a fire hydrant kind of day that Vicki reports is both encouraging and could make your stomach hurt. The sense of disruption and change in the profession is felt nationwide. All we can do is face it with courage and grace and choose to give our best every day.
It’s hard to believe that at this time last year the MDA was just beginning to evaluate options and resources needed to take a more digital approach in communications. It’s been a whirlwind adjustment that is still finding its way but has led to our new platforms, Modental On Demand and the Solution Center. Members can see the latest video updates as well as a range of interesting archives at Modental On Demand and they can research and find practical solutions for their practice through our sponsor connections at the Solution Center. Both sites are growing and we welcome your feedback for how to make them even more valuable to you.
This past week I was working on a new video about advocacy that we will have ready before Dental Day at the Capitol on March 1. Our advocacy team is diverse, talented and committed to success. Here you can see our lobbyist, Olivia Wilson, being filmed for her part in the video. Speaking of advocacy, don’t forget registration for the Virtual Town Hall and in-person Dental Day are open, just head here.
The Mega Millions jackpot is over $1B and six times previously the jackpot has hit on Friday the 13th. Not sure if the lottery is your thing or not. Too often more money means more problems, but I’d like to find out. I can imagine writing this blog from somewhere tropical. Whatever lays ahead for you, I hope it’s good fortune according to your definition.
The Week Ahead
The MDA will be closed Monday in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. After that we will return to a full plate of pursuits.
Quote of the Week
“Friday the 13th is still better than Monday the whatever.”
