The Week That Was: February 19-23

What’s Not to Like? Travel and Learn 2024 is a Big Hit!

The blog is lagging because there was one full week in the Dominican Republic followed by one insane week of work recovery. Plus, the author snagged another case of Covid upon return. But fear not, we are happy to share the uber-tempting details of a great week. Don’t be jelly – just make plans to join the crew in 2025.

We had 29 fun-loving folks (including 11 dentists) venture down to the Royal Beach Secrets for a relaxing 7 days of sunshine and pampering. Of course, we celebrated the Chiefs Super Bowl victory at the big outdoor party. There was some karaoke, there was some Pickleball, there was amazing excursions, there was a group Hibachi dinner, there was a lovely Valentine’s Day and of course, there was a power-packed CE gathering featuring several of the attendees. The only things missing besides you were alarm clocks, food prep, dish-washing, stress, no-show patients, paperwork, etc. I think this very limited selection of photos verifies this report in spades.

The whole crew was very interested in returning next year and recruiting others – both colleagues and friends or family. Why not join us? The MDA will announce dates and destinations just as soon as we can.

In the spirit of non-bias reporting, I will say seemingly all fantasy trips end with a rude awakening and this was no different. A freaky fast and dangerous snowstorm arrived just ahead of our return flight last Friday. I-70 was a gridlock mess and the van battery was deader than a doorknob. Fighting the cold, waiting on AAA and staying one extra night in St. Louis is just the price you pay for getting away. All’s well that ends well.

This and The Weeks Ahead

Trust me, there was plenty of action while we were gone and on the horizon as well. Dental Day at the Capitol is fast approaching (March 6) and we have 80+ members and dental students registered. This is awesome! Thank you! Nothing has more impact than your direct interaction with legislators.

We also had Part 2 of Pediatric Pearls, a free online CE from Dr. Ashley Popejoy. You’ll be able to watch both parts and earn CE credit at MoDental On Demand. Plus, EFDA courses continue to sell out and keep our new training center busy. It’s a Leap Year so enjoy the extra day. We need it to keep up with all things MDA.
