As for the out-of-office work this week, the focus was in St Louis. Here’s a report from our largest component!
Food for Thought at ATSU
We took our student outreach road show to the St. Louis campus of MOSDOH. Our speaker was Dr. Courtney Ethington. She’s a Kentucky grad who landed in St. Louis after her ortho residency at SLU. She connected well with students, as she shared her journey and thoughts on how to prepare now for the next steps. After fielding questions, we promoted MDA events and then we had MDA Executive Director, Vicki Wilbers, pass out the cash. It was great for the students to meet Vicki and for Vicki to experience the FFT fever!
The Greater St. Louis Dental Society puts on one amazing conference and this year was no exception. In its third year at Union Station, they continue to grow. It’s always great to mingle with so many members and friends in the dental community. This year had a record number of exhibitors. Vicki and me were among them, working a MODENTPAC table. Vicki made a pitch at the annual GSLDS business meeting for more involvement in PAC giving from our largest component. PAC donations are a major piece to the entire advocacy puzzle. It was great to see some members come by and donate.
It’s hard to recall all the other great activities at the conference … alumni lunches, fashion shows, product demos, etc. For a full recap of what you could enjoy next year, visit here. But the masterpiece is always the party! Seeing members and exhibitors let their hair down and enjoy themselves dancing to the tunes of the Vote Pedro band.
The Week Ahead
The weather flips on us and Halloween comes in cold, but the MDA work remains hot. Jerri and I take the Food for Thought road show to Kirksville and then on to Kansas City for a New Dentist social. Plus our beloved Halie Payne returns from maternity leave just in time for a series of strategy meetings. We end the week with a Board of Trustees meeting.
