December Means Parties and Gifts

Don’t look now but the calendar has flipped, and we are in the final month of 2023. There’s a lot of emotion connected to December and hopefully most of it is good. The end of the year is busy in different ways. Travel slows down but we have some fun parties to look forward to and lots of anticipation for what promises to be a memorable 2024. You don’t want to miss any of it, so renew your membership now. Dues statements have been out for a few weeks and we have several emails planned to help nudge people along. So far the renewals are flowing in steady.

Greater St. Louis New Dentists Kick Off the Season in Style

Despite some gloomy rain, 30+ new dentists came out last night for the traditional holiday social at Llewellyn’s Pub in Webster Groves. I was delighted to be included and see familiar faces and meet some new ones. It reminds me how just a little personal interaction goes a long way in feeling included. I was impressed with how welcoming everyone was to each other. It helps to have pretzel bites and hot cheese with an open bar. And it helps even more when you have a chance to win prizes. Just look at all the happy faces! Dr. Sable Muntean, did a good job leading the festivities. PNC Bank was a generous sponsor and the GSLDS staff did a great job, as usual. Happy Holidays NDs!

The Training Center Gift

It’s not exactly “free presents”, but it did feel joyous to see the equipment get unloaded and installed in the basement as the MDA EFDA Training Center moves closer and closer to completion. MDA staffer, Mandy Lewis, has done a great job coordinating all the traffic. Our contractors have been great and Burkhardt Dental has been golden with their assistance. Just imagine the hundreds of assistants who will be able to get first-class instruction in the coming months. You should make plans to see it whenever you make it this way.

The Week Ahead

Vicki and Halie are at the annual ADA Lobbyist Conference in Scottsdale, AZ as I type. We will have a report and photos next week. I’m sad to miss the Greater Kansas City Dental Society Officer Installation and Holiday Party tonight but I will collect a few photos. Everything else is bubbling up but not ready to unwrap, yet, so just sit tight.

Quote of the Week

I heard a bird sing in the darkness of December, a magical thing and sweet to remember: We are nearer to Spring than we were in September.” – Oliver Herford
